Baby goes International (Finals)

Aeris won champion for the baby goes international and represented Tampines North CC to proceed for the finals.

We received a letter informing us on the venue and the theme for the finals. Parents were to dress up their child in international costumes and perform on the stage. We started sourcing for costumes and finally decided we will dressed baby as a belly dancer!

My mum made the top, bottom and the headband and we bought a hip scarf, some accessories and a pair of pretty shoes.

On the 24th June 2012 morning, we do the final preparation and got Aeris to nap in the afternoon before the contest. The contest was held at Marine Square and we were told to arrived half an hour earlier for registration. We arrived there at 5pm, did a registration and took some finger food at Burger King. half an hour prior to the contest, we brought baby to the nursery room to change into her cute belly dancing outfit. We then proceed to the contest area. The place was crowded with audiences and cute babies! Aeris was competing with 26 babies and they were were all champion of their community centers! Competition was a tough tough one. The thing that came to my mind was, 'will my Aeris stand a chance'?

When it was finally her turn,  I requested a lively pop song, so i can encourage baby to dance however she wasn't dancing. Aeris was busy walking around (Still need some support), using her index finger pointing at the balloons or judges (LOL). I hold the baby facing the judges and shake her tummy and butt and body, everyone laughed because she was chubby and when she shook showing her little tummy it was extremely cute! They only allowed 30 secs performance so there wasn't much we can do really, but any longer wasn't going to be interesting either.

Around 7pm, it was the time to announce the winners. Consolation prizes were given out first, and I had that strange feeling that Aeris might win the top 3. And YES! She won the 1st runner up!

It was a memorable moment. Aeris the lucky stars has won herself a $300 cash for being the 1st runner up. Congratulation darling, mummy is so proud of you!

Aeris Won Champion in STRAITS TIME STOMP Cutest Baby Contest

I was browsing STOMP Singapore and saw the cutest baby contest. I thought the baby is really cute so entered the contest and emailed a few pictures of Aeris along with a short write up to STOMP.

After submitted for a day or 2, STOMP uploaded pictures of baby and the article, it looked great! Baby Aeris looked really cute i love this shot. This was taken by Hart from Tomato photography. He uses natural light for shooting and he sure has a way to capture the baby's natural look and at the correct timing!

The contest ended on 31st May and there were so many entries so you can imagine there were so many cute babies entering the contest! To win was real tough tough tough.

On the 30th May 2012 noon, I received a call from STOMP Singapore. The lady told me that baby Aeris came in 1st in the cutest baby contest and will publish in my paper on Friday 1st June 2012. How did I feel at that moment? I was overjoyed and almost cried (tears of joy)! I never expect baby Aeris to win the 1st prize (not because baby wasn't cute) but there were a total of 500 contestants! On the 1st June 2012 morning, my colleague sent me the image of the article via whatsapp, and I received calls and messages from friends and relatives congratulating on the winning of the contest.

Aeris has won a hamper worth $600 from motherworks consisting of baby weaning set. body bibs, award winning stacking toys, award winning rattle toy and a Mountain Buggy freerider.

it was a special day for me, baby and my family. We are so proud of the baby and I am sure her sister, Rino, a baby girl whom I had lost in 2009 is proud of baby Aeris too.

Year 2013, STOMP Singapore has posted Aeris photo on their website which i wasn't aware until recently.

Baby Contest - A memorable day to remember, Baby Aeris won champion

In early March, i signed Baby Aeris for the baby contest 2012 at Tampines North Community Club. There are 3 categories that we could take up for the contest.

1) Healthy baby

2) My Family Identity (*Maximum five family members comprising the participating baby, one parent and one grandparent)

3) Baby Singapore goes international

And..  I chose to participate all 3!

I woke up early to dress up the baby. We were ready to go by 8.30am!

We arrived at the Community Club at 9.15am. Proceed to registration counter and went up the main hall at level 2. There were so many cute babies and

toddlers participating in the contest!  

The main hall was so crowded!

We waited for Aeris's name to be called and proceed for the photo-taking session and assessment for the baby.

That was it. After the photoshoot and the assessment which took around 1 hour or so, we were told to go back to the main hall, relax and wait for the announcement and prize giving. Baby is getting sleepy!

The first prize giving was for the healthy baby contest, followed by my family identity, and finally down to the very last prize left on the stage, announcing the champion for the Baby Singapore goes international. I thought there was no chance but...

The whole family was overjoyed and I am so proud of baby Aeris. She will enter the grand finals and meet winners of babies from other CC at the Young Parents Fiesta in June 2012 for a final showdown!


It was a great event. My whole family enjoyed and we come together as 1, cheering for the baby on the day of event itself.
